We'll let the numbers speak for themselves.
- Instagram now has 400 million active users
- Over 60% of users log in daily, making it the second most engaged network after Facebook
- 30% of internet users are now on Instagram
- 90 percent of Instagram users are younger than 35
What we hope you concluded from those statistics is that Instagram is a massive platform with unlimited potential to reach possible clients and spread the word about your practice, spa or business. We are very active on Instagram and have enjoyed a lot of success from using it ourselves. We have been able to connect with current and potential customers as well as share our blog posts and our affiliates' blog posts to a wider audience.
If you're currently using Instagram (which we hope you are!) here are 3 tips to jumpstart your experience if you're not seeing much traffic to your page and posts - aka, "likes" and "followers."
1. Use clear, attractive, high-quality photos.
We made this one first for a reason! If you have ever been on Instagram, you know it is all about photos. A literal stream of picture after picture! Instgram's users can become numb from looking over so many as they scroll through their feed, so to have any success with it, you have got to have pretty, high-quality photos. You don't need to have a professional camera by any means, but make sure the pictures aren't blurry or too bright or too dark. You can also use photo editors like VSCO - it has a ton of filters and tools and can be downloaded as an app on your smartphone.
Hashtags are SO important, especially when you don't have many followers yet. Hashtags are a label/metadata tag that make it easier for users to find messages with a specific theme or content. So on each photo you want to use hashtags that are related to what you're posting about! Check out an example of hashtags that we use consistently.
3. Post a variety of different photos.
You want to keep your posts relevant to your Ayurvedic business of course, but make sure to mix it up so there is always something new when people visit your page. This is your chance to get creative! Take photos of your office, the products you use, you with your clients, your clients' success stories or before-and-after photos, inspirational quotes, the leaves changing color in your backyard... the list goes on and on! Then use the caption section to further explain your post and relate it back to your practice. Make your Instagram feed a testament to your knowledge, experience, business, health journey and wonderful life!
