Who doesn’t love long, thick, shiny, healthy hair? Healthy hair is often indicative of good health in other aspects of the body and mind. The ancient science of Ayurveda thinks healthy hair is so important, in fact, it has its own term: keshya. Keshya means “that which is good for healthy hair.”

Healthy hair depends on three factors.

  1. Kesha Sanjanana: the ingredients that help maintain healthy hair.
  2. Kesha Vardhan: the ingredients that promote hair growth and thickness.
  3. Kesha Ranjana: the ingredients that help maintain natural hair color.

There is a pathophysiological condition that leads to hair loss and early graying, according to Ayurveda: khalitya (hair loss), palitya (gray hair) and indralupta (suddenly balding in patches).

More About Hair Loss

According to the Ayurvedic text, Sushruta Samhita, the condition known as khalitya is caused by imbalanced vata dosha, which then imbalances pitta dosha. Vata and pitta are then both imbalanced and together they imbalance rakta, the blood tissue. That’s when kapha dosha becomes blocked. Khalitya then negatively impacts romakupa (body hair) and eventually leads to permanent hair loss.

More About Premature Gray Hair

When pitta affects the romakupa, it causes palitya (gray hair). This is because of the sharp and hot qualities of imbalanced pitta dosha.

More About Patchy Hair Loss

Indralupta, or alopecia, is rapid hair loss in patches. This is caused by krimi (microscopic pathogens) that impact the scalp.

Avoiding Chemicals for Long Term Healthy Hair

All humans wish to maintain healthy hair throughout their lives. However, there are many commercial hair products containing harmful chemicals added to shampoos, conditioners and hair dyes. These chemicals are used for maintaining the color and texture of hair but overtime the chemicals may cause harm to healthy scalp and hair.

Our products are free from harmful chemicals and are designed using Ayurvedic principles to strengthen your hair at the roots and promote shine, length and thickness.
