3 Reasons To Become An Ayurvedic Practitioner

For Practitioners and Doctors

Luckily for everyone...

Ayurveda has moved more and more into the mainstream over the last five years. In many countries it is even being integrated into traditional medicine hospitals and treatment centers! Specialties, colleges, clinics, workshops and both online and in-class courses have popped up all the way from Bachelor’s to doctorates!

But not only are people turning to Ayurveda as a preferred method of healing – many are deciding to take the next step and become Ayurvedic counselors, practitioners and even doctors. If you are on the fence about deciding whether or not to expand your relationship with Ayurveda through continuing education, here are three reasons why you totally should!

When you’re an Ayurvedic professional, your whole job is about helping others reach their fullest potential.

What could possibly be more rewarding than that? As an Ayurvedic practitioner, you get to literally watch people grow and thrive with your guidance and expertise. But not only do others have an improved life because of your efforts – you reap all kinds of benefits too! Helping others has been scientifically proven to raise self-esteem, psychological wellbeing and happiness. Feelings of social connectedness rise and in consequence you will experience improved physical health and longevity. Two of the biggest factors contributing to a healthy and attractive aging process are staying socially and physically active – guiding people through the healing process does both!

Every person in the world has a unique story to tell, along with emotional and physical baggage that may come along as the consequences of their experiences and lifestyle choices. But as an Ayurvedic healer, you are a shining light to them, an example of the wonderful possibilities available with this ancient science. At the end of life, not everyone can say they contributed to the betterment of mankind. But as an Ayurvedic practitioner, you are doing that every day. Helping others is like ghee for the soul – soothing, balancing, detoxifying, healing, rejuvenating and delicious!

As an Ayurvedic practitioner you have a powerful motivator to live a healthy, balanced lifestyle – if you’re preaching it and want to have a positive impact on others, you had better be living it too.

This is a reason that is more difficult to define, but still important to consider. As a practitioner, you are more than a healer. You are now a leader. There’s almost nothing more ineffective and irritating than a person who recommends a change or swears by a product and yet doesn’t follow their own advice. Don’t be that guy! Your clients will be able to tell by the state of your own health and just in the way you talk and handle yourself whether or not you follow what you say. One of the most powerful ways to make a change is to lead by example. Whenever your client feels discouraged, you can be their inspiration to keep going!

As an Ayurvedic practitioner, the options for how you run your business are endless and open to your own creativity and unique desires.

In the Ayurveda industry, if you want you can travel to attend or teach at workshops and conferences or go to schools and hospitals all over the world to further your training! You meet so many new people and make fast friendships with others that are interested in and dedicated to the study of Ayurveda and helping others. You can largely make your own schedule, from the times you’re filling churnam orders or meeting in person or on a video chat for a check up or consultation. If you can dream it, then you can do it, especially with the world of social media.

In conclusion...

The thought of going “back to school” for Ayurveda can seem daunting whether you already have a college degree or not. Maybe you worry about attending classes because of your job or family responsibilities. Luckily there are now many reputable online courses that you can do at your own pace, as well as in-person, hands-on training.

If you feel called or compelled to be a healer, it’s usually a longing that won’t go away. If you take it little by little, step-by-step, anything can be accomplished!
