Autumn marks the transition from summer to winter. The winds are cool and the air is scented with falling leaves and fires. Autumn is full of magnificent colors. This season is perfect for admiring beauty of nature and taking endless scenic pictures. Nothing can relax and rejuvenate more than enjoying nature in fall.

Ritucharya/Seasonal Changes

The word Ritucharya derives from “ritu” meaning “seasons” and “charya” meaning “to follow routine.” Ritucharya holds great significance in Ayurveda. There are 6 seasons of the year.

What To Eat In Autumn

  • Favor the bitter, sweet and astringent tastes
  • Favor food like rice, mung beans, pumpkin and squash, pumpkin seeds
  • Drink water heated by the sun in the daytime and cooled by the rays of the moon at night
  • Eat cooked food with medicated ghee
  • Take herbs like Shatavari, Licorice, Amla, Chandan and Ushira
