Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, sleep and emotional and mental distress.

The key pathological factor responsible for Fibromyalgia is vitiated vata.

Fibromyalgia is both physically painful and mentally exhausting, and the best option is to enlist the expertise of an Ayurvedic Vaidya. An in-depth Ayurvedic health consultation will offer you a fresh look at your condition and help you understand your root cause. Once the root cause is known, then personalized foods, activities and herbal protocols can be recommended to bring your body back into balance.

For this client, Vaidya Vishwanath did a thorough assessment of her diet and lifestyle to pinpoint the triggering factors for aggravation.

Vata dosha aggravation is caused by overwhelming routine of home activities accompanied by stress, staying awake all night, indulging in spicy and dry foods, constant mind activation and worries from family problems, lack of nutritious food, suppression of natural urges like urine and stool as well as psychogenic factors like fear, grief and worry.

Luckily, Ayurvedic principles can fix many of these issues!

Case Study

She was also suffering with tenderness in the calf muscles over the last 8 years. Over the last 2 years, she has developed fatigue, depression and sleeplessness.

  4. Ashtavargam Kwatham Tablets
  5. Dasamula Arishtam
  6. Kalyanaka Ghritam
  7. Manasamitra Vatakam

According to Ayurveda, the described signs and symptoms are diagnosed as Mamsagata Vata.

The client was administered both shodhana (detoxification therapy) and shamana (palliative therapy).

For the first three days, Vaidya Vishwanath prescribed Snigdha Mrdu Shodhana (mild laxative) with Gandharvahastadi oil to help nirama avastha (eliminate toxins). Next, she was given Nasya Karma (nasal drop therapy) with Dhanwantharam 101 for seven days which helped to manage depressive features, headache, and sleep difficulties. Each day before the administration of Nasya Karma the client was told to practice Shiroabhyanga (Ayurvedic head massage) with Mahanarayana Oil, which balances vata dosha.

After seven days of treatment, the client was then administered Ashtavargam Kwatham Tablets and Dasamula Arishtam orally to relieve pain. Dhanwantharam 101 and Kalyanaka Ghritam were also recommended to help nourish and lubricate muscles, nerves tissues, and induces good sleep.

Manasamitra Vatakam helps to calm down the mind.

This whole course of therapy was done over 30 days. The client was feeling less pain and tenderness in the muscles, and her sleep also improved. She was advised to continue following her daily regimen as recommended.

After three months of treatment, her body pain and other symptoms were reduced even more. After six months of treatment, 80% symptoms of her symptoms disappeared completely. Client is now able to do her proper daily routine without any discomfort and focus on her responsibilities.
