Indukantam – A Ray of Hope for Increasing Immunity

Indukantam is a well-known Ayurvedic formula that boosts immunity. According to the classical texts, it relieves Jwaram (fever) and increases Balavadhanam (strength and immunity).

The name Indukantam has several meanings. Indu means “moon” and Kanthi means “color of complexion.” Combined, the name indicates this formula makes the skin glow as beautiful as the moon.

Indukantam helps the skin glow through its power to rejuvenate Pitta digestion along with vata circulation, which is how it strengthens immunity.

Digestion begins with Pachaka Pitta (digestive Pitta) located in the lower stomach and small intestines it metabolizes or extracts the nutrients that are needed to build immunity. The circulating energy of Samana Vayu (digestive circulation) and Vyana Vayu (peripheral circulation) transports the nutrients via Ranjaka Pitta (blood and liver metabolism) to the micro vessels where it reaches Bhrajaka Pitta (skin metabolism) where it imparts color to the skin. If this process is working as it should, the result is a vibrant, glowing complexion…a sign of true health.

Symptoms of fever are classified under Vatika, Paithika and Kaphaja, the many varied symptoms of Covid-19 are associated with fever. In this situation it is difficult for one single remedy to be effective. According to Ayurveda, all illness starts with digestion and Indukantam specifically works to restore the digestive mechanism, which helps the body fight illness and restore immunity.

To help enhance immunity, doctors from Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal have advocated for the use of Indukantam.
